OK...I can't win...but I can start off the competition! This was shot on my trip to Venice last month. Mamiya 35-S rangefinder, Fuji Superia 100.
It's my entry for an item that is "a shot involving water"...........

Wow! One whole week has gone by, and not a single contest posting (other than my own).
I'd feel pretty depressed right about now, except I'm assuming you all had to go get your film developed from last week! Yeah, that must be it! I hope.

Ron, love the pic of Venice. A city that is truly a photographer's paradise. I took many photos in Venice...been there twice....with my Nikon N65 film camera. I wish now that I had my Mamiya a few years ago!
Also, your motion picture there of the hot rod is really nice. It's totally moving. I guess maybe you used a shutter speed of 1/30?

Thank you. I was delighted with a lot of the images on my trip this summer. I took along my Canon DSLR (don't tell my Mamiya cameras...the ones that didn't get to go might get jealous!)...and my Mamiya 35-S rangefinder. I also took my NC1000 and an old Zeiss medium format folder.
Sounds like a lot, but I only took one lens per camera (that's all there are for the Ikonta and the 35-S) and they all fit nicely in the camera bag. I had to check my toiletries, shampoo and such, since the camera bag was my only carry-on (this was even before the government restrictions). My travel tripod fits snugly under the bag, so that was no problem either (I didn't actually use it much).
I agree that Venice is a photographer's paradise!
As to the hot rod...you may be right...I don't really know what my shutter speed was...this was at the Woodward Dream Cruise in Michigan this summer (I had parked my Vette). Most of the traffic was so congested it didn't move very fast at all. A small gap opened, and suddenly you could hear this rod (some say it was an old Mercury, some an old Packard...I'm not sure what it was, other than fast and loud) and the car next to it, getting it on.
I was standing partially in the street, so I had to move out of the way, but I stopped down the aperture and slowed the shutter speed and panned, just hoping to get something that worked.

The Venice photo is beautiful, really subtle metering.

Thanks. No meter involved...just a "Sunny 16" guesstimate with an old rangefinder. I was rather delighted in the way it turned out myself!

Ron, how'd the pictures come out with the Zeiss folder?

I plan on flying down to Miami to visit inlaws there and in the Keys and I plan on taking two Mamiya SLR's (I bought another one, a 1000TL), 1 Sears AF rangefiner, 1 Kodak "Pocket" Camera folder, 1 Bell & Howell 8mm movie camera, tripod, and loads of film for all these cameras. I've never taken more than 1 camera before.
So, you didn't have any problems with all your gear going through security??

The most beautiful city in the world, IMO and I've been to quite a few. Maybe because Venice hasn't changed at all within the last, oh, 500 years that makes it so breathtaking.

Well, it's a great shot, nice work. I can't identify the make of the car either, but it looks as if it was completely customized. Part of my current assignment for my photo class is to take a photo with a moving subject in focus and the background blurred. A panned shot, I guess it's called.

I'll have to scan one of the negs or prints and post it (it wasn't Mamiya, so I didn't think of it for here). Didn't take many...but thought a couple were OK.

I don't know that I will again, either! It was really too much to lug around and worry about. Next time, no more than two!

Actually, no. My canera bag was my carry-on. I've heard horror stories about it, and thought I was going to have a problem in the Paris airport, but all went well. I had all the film in the camera bag in a large zip-lock bag, and just asked them (very politely) to hand-screen it. They were all very accommodating.

So have I (been to a lot of cities) and Venice is certainly one of the nicest. My favorite area...at least I think it would be, if I could spend some more time there, is in the Tuscan region of Italy, nearer to Florence. Beautiful country.

This is the harbor we entered the day we went to Florence, Italy. The shot was taken from the balcony of our stateroom, as we came into the harbor in the morning. Used my Zeiss Ikonta folder, using Fuji Velvia 100. Exposure not recorded, but I think it was about f/11 @ 1/100 sec.

Ron, love the picture. Really great color tone and sharpness for an old folding camera.
