This is my second Mamiya camera (also have a Mamiya 6 RF). I just recently acquired it from a camera store that was going to trash it - of no value they said - no-one will want it. So I got it free.
It has the original box, case, both magazines, original lens cap etc. Cosmetically it is in great shape and everything works smoothly. A very well made camera with some interesting features - not the least the interchangeable backs. Amazing!
Only one thing puzzles me and I wondered if anyone has an answer.
The lens is clearly marked as 50mm f2.8 yet the aperture ring is marked to f1.9. Looking through the lens with the shutter open and then moving the aperture ring to f2.8 then to f1.9 it's clear that the aperture opens wider than f2.8. So is the lens a 2.8 or a 1.9??

Interesting. huh

The Mamiya Magazine 35 used a fixed 50mm f/2.8 Mamiya-Sekor lens in a Seikosha MXL shutter. An f/2 lens was also available on some, but finding one built that way is rare. I would love to see a picture of yours and the aperture ring, since I have not seen one with an f/1.9 designation!.

For those who may not have seen one, here are pictures of one (I have three) from my collection ... all of which have the f/2.8 lens:

BTW - the camera store owner missed the mark. There are Japanese collectors who would salivate over a Magazine 35 in great shape!

Thanks for the reply.
Even though everything seems to work well I'm treating the camera to a CLA - back next week. I'll post pics for you then.

I noticed one other interesting thing - the aperture ring is marked to f16 but the depth of field scale is marked up to f22.
